Staff Biographies Christina Croco, RVT Christina met Dr. Sams at The Animal Medical Center in New York City during her year long internship in 1998. After deciding to return to California to pursue a career in small animal medicine, she teamed up with Dr.Sams in 1999 to help establish The Andrew Sams Clinic. Over the past 8 years she has devoted her energy to providing quality care for the patients of Dr.Sams and is proud to be part of the Sams Clinic team. She is an avid cook and enjoys reading. Jeanette Sasek, RVT Jeanette joined The Andrew Sams Clinic in January of 2004. As well as adding excellent skills to the nursing team, she has been instrumental in the opening and running of our CT and hydrotherapy departments. She is active within the veterinary community with a NAVTA membership and serves in the House of Delegates for the CVMA. Jeanette is a graduate of Yuba City College with an AS degree in Veterinary Technology. She enjoys sculpting, cooking and riding her motorcycle. Angelina Pieroni, RVT Angelina brings her superior nursing skills to our team having previously worked at a state-of-the-art Bay Area hospital as a surgery nurse for 5 years. She graduated from Western Career College with an AS degree and passed her State Board Exam shortly after. She is a Star Wars trivia fan and a spiritually devoted person. Margaret Davids, RVT Margaret joined The Andrew Sams Clinic in September 2004. She is a graduate of Foothill College in Los Altos with an AS in Veterinary Technology. She adds quality nursing to our team, experience gained by working at a large 24 hour emergency hospital in San Francisco. Among Margaret's various roles, she is a primary CT technician. In her free time, she is an artist of multiple mediums, currently focusing on her custom stained glass pieces. John Spencer, Night Nurse/Hydrotherapy John has spent the last 14 years working with animals in a variety of settings. Starting in St.Louis, MO, John managed a kennel and worked as a surgery nurse for 6 years. He then relocated to Northern California were his experiences include working with Guide Dogs for the Blind, San Francisco Veterinary Specialist, and running his own small business, "Pet Cab". He was an officer for the Humane Society, serving for 2 years, and is currently a Ranger for the Point Reyes national seashore during weekends and holidays. John joined The Sams Clinic in December of 2006 and spends his nights caring for our surgery patients and his days rehabilitating patients in the hydrotherapy department. Jennie Espeland, RVT Jennie graduated from the veterinary technician program at Foothill College in the spring of 2006. She joined The Sams Clinic in July of the same year. She has fast become a respected part of the nursing team among her peers. Having previously been a travel specialist, she and her husband enjoy traveling the world. Davina Bartell, RVT Davina joined the staff in April 2007. Since graduating from the Veterinary Technology program at Cosumnes River College, she has worked in specialty, emergency, general practice and shelter settings. She is enthusiastic about using her skills on a volunteer basis, and has participated in free veterinary clinics both locally and internationally. Her other interests include hiking, cooking, reading, and yoga. She also enjoys spending time with her dog, Chester, and her two cats, Bee and Willow. Katrina Parkinson, Nurse Assistant Katrina Graduated from Tam high in 1997 then Randolph-Macon Woman’s College with degrees in chemistry and physics in 2001. She has worked with a wide range of animals from dogs, cats and horses to eagles, hawks, alligators, ferrets and chinchillas. Her clinical interests include diagnostic imaging and canine sports medicine. She currently has two dogs, a number of cats and a horse. Maddie, the flying coyote, is a 3 year old border collie rescue who excels in agility and has tried her paw at herding. She has finished her advanced/master titles in three major agility associations. Malcolm, the crashing coyote, is a 3 year old sheltie rescue who enjoys his beginning rally class as well as eating anything he can get in his mouth. Cesar Cardenas, Nurse Assistant Cesar got his start in veterinary medicine by volunteering his time to an animal hospital after adopting a dog in need. He ended up being hired by the hospital and became a valuable member of the staff for 3 years. He has decided to return to school to pursue certification in Veterinary Technology. He has recently moved to Marin County from Southern California, and enjoys quality family time with his children and their dog Cheyenne. Vickie DeHamer, Receptionist Vickie has been working as a receptionist in the local veterinary community for nearly a decade, most recently for Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael. Her own dog, a big black Newfoundland named Clyde, was a patient of Dr. Sams many years ago and she’s happy to report Clyde’s still going strong as a feisty senior citizen. She is a graduate of Mills College in Oakland, where she earned a BA in Journalism. In her off hours, she’s doing what everyone else in California does: trying to sell her first screenplay. If you know any producers who like black comedies, please let her know. Sarah Johnson, M.A., Canine Rehabilitation Sarah received her master's degree in Exercise Physiology in 1985 and has gone on to work in the fields of cardiac, diabetes rehabilitation and Pilates for both health club and medical organizations with a focus on rehabilitation utilizing Pilates for overcoming chronic pain. In July of 2004, Sarah attended the University of Tennessee Veterinary College to take the Canine Rehabilitation Courses. In addition, she has taken various veterinary technician and manual canine therapy classes. She is also a certified Canine Body Worker. She has the magic touch that dogs really respond to. Sarah has been developing and implementing the canine rehabilitation program at The Sams Clinic for the past two years. |
